Ellene Masri Goddess Jones Pick of the Month
Who is Ellene Masri? Check here out as Goddess Jones pick of the month.
“When I first sat down and listened to Ellene Masri’s debut album entitled “Music” I found myself almost immediately facing a dilemma. Despite my propensity for skipping to the next track on almost everything I ever come across for the first time, I was so captivated by the tabala in the opening song “Secret Lover” that I just had to listen to the whole track. Despite it’s obvious commercial appeal, it has a certain quality that suggest a degree of artistic integrity, that is sadly not so prevalent in theses times of fast food, disposable electronics and computer generated music.
Nonetheless I got to the second track with every intention to have a quick listen and skip on. But alas, my dilemma! The next track was equally as captivating but for very different reasons. Despite my itchy mouse - wanting so desperately to do what it does and drive me to the next track - I just couldn’t move it on. I was hooked. Track two “Lonely Girl” draws you into Ellene Masri’s world. A place where even the trees form part of the ensemble. But as it went on and on, track after track, I felt incapable of doing what I do. I just could not skip. When I got to track five “Music” the title track of the album, I resigned myself to just kicking back and letttin’ it flow until the end. Skipping is just not an option on an album like this.
When Ellene broke into the sweet tones and sublime melody of this aptly titled track, I was faced with yet another dilemma! Is her voice ‘velvet,’ ‘satin’ or ‘silk?’ Someone please research which one of those three is the smoothest and apply that to Ellene Masri. The last time I got this excited about a smooth jazz album it was Corrine Bailey Rae’s debut, before that I think it was Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love”. So when Chris Phillips designated Ellene’s debut album as “Album of the Week” on Jazz fm, I found myself thinking actually it’s my album of the decade.”

#standwithjada
Morals, Principles, Standards, Values is something that is lacking within this generation of children and teens. Everything is a laughing matter and everything goes on social media. I remember a time when it was important to stay in a child’s place. And certain things were unheard of such as alcohol abuse, drug usage, and now rapes that go viral. What values do our young people of today hold when they can drug, rape and abuse a young woman and take photos of it and post them on the internet to go viral. What Morals do our young men have today to actually display such behavior. It ails me to have seen the pictures of young Jada laying there in the floor half clothed and then to also see young men mimicking the pose in photos. #jadapose. It was totally unimaginable. I came up in a time where things like this were not done and young men had nothing but respect for young women. Am I saying that the boys weren’t attempting to get the girl. Or course not. Boys have been trying to “Get the girl” for years and years to come. But RAPE! Really? The crime of Sexually assaulting a teenager or anyone has taken a sad turn and it is time to take a stand for morality.
It’s time that we go back to teaching our children morals and love for our brothers and sisters. I am hurt because I have a 16 year old and wondered what I would have done in this situation? What would my child do in this situation?
Would she be as brave as young Jada or would she fold up like many others and hide their faces in shame. I would say that hiding is not an option. No matter the embarrassment, the punishment for the culprits should be more vital.
If you have in any way perpetuated jokes, mocking, or hate (aka rape culture) to #jadapose you are a sick and terrible human being says one individual from a post online on BBC. I whole heartedly agree.
The day the report aired, #jadapose was trending on Twitter in Houston. It's been used more than 30,000 times since across the US.
The hashtag was attached to photos of people replicating the shot that Jada says is evidence of a crime. (The Houston police are investigating the original incident.)
One user made a Vine video, singing an improvised song over a photo of three men replicating the pose. It has been retweeted over 100 times. In a separate tweet, and after some criticism, that user wrote: "If you don't know what really happened don't comment on it."
But there are only a few examples of the mocking photos left on Twitter and Instagram. Instead, the hashtag now attracts thousands of messages denouncing the meme.
A search for the hashtag #Jadapose is more likely to bring up a new kind of photo - women posing with their arms flexed, a measure of solidarity and a message to Jada to stay strong. There are also several hashtags - #StandWithJada, #Jadacounterpose and #JusticeforJada - promoting an anti-rape message.
So I #standwithjada and believe that #justiceforjada is well deserved.

Why Should Bino & Fino Come To America ?
Today's cartoons in America is lacking the diversity and originality, must cartoons are mostly repetitive in content with only different looking characters. Maybe it's time to bring some diversity and opportunity to ethnic groups around the world to bring a new kind of image and a fresh broad scope of the world.
And one children show that comes to mind is "Bino & Fino,"a cartoon series about a brother and sister named Bino and Fino who lives with their grandparents 'Mama and Papa' in a modern day city in Africa. Bino and Fino have many adventures where with the help of their friend Zeena the magic butterfly, they discover and learrn about the world. Bino and Fino was created due to demand for more ethnically entertainment and most importantly providing a positive image of the black family. This wonderful show has a globalized appeal to all children of kindergarten and preschool age. They teach the beauty of all African culture which is needed in America because there is lack of understanding about the story and history of Africa. This would be a extraordinary opportunity for children to have fun and learn the vast eclectic African languages which will help broaden the children's perspective on the world as well as Africa.

What The Hell Happened To Remy Shand?
This man was on top of the music world with his critically acclaimed debut album "The Way I Feel,"which went Gold in the USA and garnered him 4 Grammy nominations. The album is a timeless piece of work. What people may not know is this man wrote, sang, produced, engineered, arranged it, and performed all the instruments. And if you got the opportunity to see him live, he was a extraordinary live performer.
Then, supposedly he was working on the follow-up album, that was never released or made. He just vanished from the public eye with no statement saying "He will be back" or "He doesn't want to record anymore," he just disappeared out of sight and out of mind.
At least when Lauryn Hill, D'Angelo, and Maxwell will disappeared from the music scene, they had a good amount of music their fans would enjoy until they decided to comeback to the music scene. Remy only had his debut album and that was all I could find. I can never imagine in the history of music, an artist who has critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated debut album just disappeared. With no new music. With no statement. Just vanished from the earth with no reason why?
But, I just learned recently Remy is back with couple of new singles on his label Remy Records, one song is called "Politicans" and the other is called "Son Of Night," which are amazing songs. But, it had me wondering what took him so long and why such a long absence from his fans who wanted more music from him.

Goddess Jones Artist To Watch For Moonchild
Moonchild(Amber, Andris, and Max) has a soulful spirit in their sound. The lead singer Amber voice reminds me of a young Erkyah Badu with her soothing and memorizing sound. Andris and Max brings to life a tantalizing mixes of soul, hip-hop, and jazz which creates a recipe for amazing music. They bring back the good old memories of the classic neo soul from the 90's and I highly recommend you support their music.
They just recently released a new album called "Please Rewind ," which is a perfect title for this album because I've playing this album constantly. Moonchild(Amber, Andris, and Max) created a jazz/neo-soul lounge vibe that you can sit down and drink a nice glass of wine reminiscing of the good times. In era where many say neo soul is dead, but with Moonchild's "Please Rewind" brings me back to the essences of a time where good music can come from soul. Here is the official first single "All The Joy"
