What the What?

Leaders at a funeral home in Lexington had a visit from ‘the dead’ when they found a person alive and kicking in a body bag.
WAPT reports:
The man was found at the Porter and Sons Funeral Home, on Yazoo Street.
Walter Williams woke up and surprised many people.
“I asked the coroner what happened, and the only thing he could say is that it’s a miracle,” Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said.
“I stood there and watched them put him in a body bag and zipped it up,” Williams’ nephew, Eddie Hester, said.
The coroner said he checked Williams’ pulse about 9 p.m. Wednesday and pronounced him dead at his home in Lexington.
“That was at 10:30, and at 2:30, my cousin called me and said, ‘Not yet,’ and I said, ‘What you mean not yet?’ He said, ‘Daddy still here,’” Hester said.
After the coroner helped move Williams to Porter and Sons Funeral Home, workers were getting ready to embalm him, but that’s when he started to move.
Byron Porter said it’s the first time he’s ever seen anything like it. Williams’ was inside the zipped-up body bag and kicking to get out.
Paramedics rushed Williams him to a hospital, where family members said Thursday night that he’s happy to be alive.
“I don’t know how long he’s going to be here, but I know he’s back right now. That’s all that matters,” Hester said.
The coroner said Williams’ pacemaker may have stopped working and then started up again.
Family members said Williams is a fighter. He’s been a long-time farmer and worked for the school board.
Could you imagine? The Lord must not be finished with Williams yet!

Natural Elements Paper Chasing in 2014

Natural Elements were one of the dopest rap group that you may never heard of from the 90s Golden Era Of Hip Hop.

Mr. Voodoo, A-Butta, and L-Swift were underground hip hop heavyweights with singles like "MayDay," Lyrical Tactics", and the most slept on single "Paper Chase." They also had one of the most memorable cipher on The "Stretch & Bobbito Late Night Show."

With countless appearance on Lyricist Lounge venues and clubs, they were on the verge of stardom with at the time powerhouse Tommy Boy Records. But, the album was put on the shelves and never released until 10 years later.

Now Natural Elements returns with "The NEp," coming out March 10th and what I have heard so far brings me back to that era of hip hop.

Here is NE first video single "Turning Tables "

Thursday February 25 @ 8pm Racism, Discrimination, Sexism, and America

Thursday February 25, 2014 just days as Black History Month comes to and end, it has been very interesting to see the conversations on what Black History really means to many individuals. In our world today Racism, Sexism, and Discrimination has been openly discussed with no form of respect to our fellow man. So we will take a look at 400 years of Slavery and its impacts on today's society. Also, is the discrimination against homosexuals the same as it is for the Non Caucasian community? There are many who would agree to disagree. This and much more.

Tune in tomorrow on www.tenacityradio.com at 8pm EST.
The lines will be open for your feedback at

Thursday Thoughts

Yesterday has been washed away by the sea of time but today is pliable to our thoughts, today is moldable to our will, today will surely determine tomorrow.

Letting Go....

The secret self knows the anguish of our attachments and assures us that letting go of what we think we must have to be happy is the same as letting go of our unhappiness.

Thursday March 6th @8pm est On TLJE Top-Notch Next Sensation Maria Rose

Being born as the middle child of six in a household surrounded by music of the 70’s including Earth, Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson and The Carpenters, Maria Rose has always had a love for music. Her passion for music was deeply established after hearing Alanis Morrissette’s “You oughtta know.”

From there she wrote her first song at the age of 11 called, “Sing your heart out” and at the age of 15 she began recording songs. Influences from Alanis Morrissette, Gwen Stefani, and Meridith Brooks inspired her as a songwriter and singer, and have helped her to embrace her alto voice. In particular, Gwen Stefani enthused her fashion style and writing, Alanis Morrissette fueled her carefree attitude through life and music, and Meridith Brooks guided her to express her uncut story through music.

Now at the age of 22, Maria Rose’s love for music has allowed for her to write over 100 songs that represent her as an artist. Each song is a testimony based on true events in her life. Her mission is to have her songs serve as a time capsule through her journey through life that she wants to share with the world. She is currently working on her debut album, “Maria and the Rose” and her 5th novel, "Betrothed."

Lightnin' Rod" Jalal Nuriddi of The Last Poets & Malik Al Nasir & Director Quenell Jones will be joining the show to  talking about their upcoming film "Hustlers Convention.
The Grandfather Of Hip Hop," Jalal Nuriddin better known as "Lightnin' Rod" Of The Last Poets. In 1973, a fast-talking hustler named Sport spawned the birth of Hip-Hop. Lightnin' Rod a.k.a Jalal of The Last Poets, backed by Kool & The Gang and others, told an epic street tale of card sharks, gamblers, dope peddlers and thieves which changed the face of music forever. Memorised by Melle Mel, Fab 5 Freddy and many others, it became what Chuck D called a ‘verbal bible to understand the streets'. Wu Tang, the Beastie Boys and Jungle Brothers have all paid homage to it.

Hip Hop Today Red Cup Radio Smoke Worthy Joint Of The Week Yasiin Gaye By Amerigo Gazaway

Yasiin Gaye project by Amerigo Gazaway is feel good music for the soul.  With 13 amazing tracks from Side One Called The Departure combining the spiritual smooth essence of Marvin Gaye with the hip hop renaissance of Yasiin Bey makes for something different and very much needed in the world of hip hop today.

Amerigo Gazaway’s new *Soul Mates* ser
ies continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never were. On the series’ first installment, the producer unites Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and soul legend Marvin Gaye for a dream collaboration aptly titled “Yasiin Gaye”. Building the album’s foundation from deconstructed samples of Gaye’s Motown classics, Gazaway re-orchestrates the instrumentation into new productions within a similar framework. Carefully weaving Bey’s dense raps and Gaye’s soulful vocals over his new arrangements, the producer delivers a quality far closer to Gaye’s famous duets than that of a “mashup” album.

My favorite tracks are "Inner City Travelin Man"," Ms Fat Booty," "Peculiar Mathematics," but  all the 13 tracks I've heard are dope and I highly recommend this musical masterpiece by Amerigo Gazaway and I look forward to hear Side Two from this classic masterpiece.

Producer Amerigo Gazaway will join Hip Hop Today Red Cup Radio Friday March 21st @3pm est www.tenacityradio.com

Tha Homie Chuck Jones & his cohost D.D. Turner will interview Amerigo Gazaway about his brilliant collaboration project Marvin Gaye x Yasiin Bey = Yasiin Gaye http://www.okayplayer.com/audio/marvin-gaye-mos-def-remix-yasiin-gaye-side-1-mp3.html With the breakthrough release of 2011’s *Fela Soul*, Amerigo Gazaway’s sophomore effort was declared “a virtual web hit” (MTV) seemingly overnight. As the creator of one of the year’s most buzz-worthy independent releases, the 26 year-old Nashville native successfully showcased his unique ability to blend multiple genres into a singular dance floor groove. The son of renowned Jazz trumpeter, Gary “El Buho” Gazaway, the producer’s culturally diverse upbringing is reflected in his nuanced, multilayered instrumental arrangements. With a process the LA Times describes as “drawing a different design within a similar framework”, Gazaway’s cleverly executed remix/mashup projects gives audiences a familiar, yet fresh and distinct way to experience their favorite songs. The producer’s first full-length instrumental album, *Selective Hearing Vol. 1*, was released in 2010 on the Cold Busted label founded by veteran dance DJ, Vitamin D. Charting on Beatport’s top selling Chill-Out sales chart, the album introduced listeners to Gazaway’s tasteful use of samples and unique knack for combining diverse sounds into something completely new and original. While studying Digital Media at MTSU, Gazaway and fellow producer Wally Clark co-hosted the popular “Gummy Soul Show” on the now defunct Nashville radio station WRVU. The program, which featured rare 60’s and 70’s soul eventually morphed into a boutique record label operated by Gazaway and co-owned by the two former radio hosts prior to Gazaway's departure. In 2011, Gazaway gave Roots’ drummer, Questlove, a copy of his recently completed Fela Kuti/De La Soul mashup fusion, *Fela Soul* after a DJ set in Gazaway's hometown of Nashville. Thompson would later call the album “brilliant” and publish it to his website, Okayplayer. Quickly spreading to other outlets, the album made MTV (Hive), The Source and BoingBoing before taking top 5 rankings on both NPR and Soul Train’s year-end “Best of 2011” list. On the one year anniversary of his *Fela Soul* release, Amerigo found success a second time with the now unavailable *Bizarre Tribe; A Quest To The Pharcyde*. In merging Pharcyde vocals over re-orchestrated A Tribe called Quest samples into an album Vulture.com calls “a trip worth taking”, the album was downloaded over 30,000 times in its first two weeks of release.
