Hip Hop's Game Changer Amerigo Gazaway's Yasiin Gaye: The Return Side II

Amerigo Gazaway created a hip hop game changer with his Yasiin Gaye Project. We just finished listening to his just released "Yasiin Gaye:The Return(Side II)" and this album is a game changer because where some many other producers failed, Amerigo blended perfectly the old soul sounds of the past with the classic hip hop lyrical gems from Yasiin Bey.

Like one of our favorite track  is "Undeniable feat. The Temptation", which brings back that classic old school hip hop vibe we all know and enjoy. Also, another favorite track of ours is "This Means You feat. Talib Kweli" brings back a feeling of euphoria hearing the dynamic duo on a track together and hoping a Black Star II album come out one day. Overall this album is a hip hop gem and we look forward to hear what's next from Amerigo Gazaway. Maybe a Guru and Miles Davis Soulmate II? The ideas are limitless.

  1. What makes this project fascinating is its ability to bridge the cultural/generational divide of Black music. The fusion of Yasiin Bey's effortless flows and occasional foray into sultry harmony, Marvin Gaye's notable vocal provision of sweet melody and less notable production skills, all over the skillful craftsmanship of Amerigo, truly makes for a resounding and memorable experience for the listener. In the end, simply put, this is, "...Harder than two day old shit." (to borrow a comparative reference from A.T.C.Q.'s short man, Phife Dawg).

Absolutely a unique project! Looking forward to more inclusive projects like this from Amerigo. Could this be the new trajectory of music?
