Tha Homie Chuck Jones will chill and talk with the musically gifted Ensemble Mik Nawooj about their Kickstarter campaign Hip-Hop Orchestra Ensemble Mik Nawooj's First EP! and unique sound to the hip hop world.
Ensemble Mik Nawooj injects classical compositional techniques into hip-hop, indie rock, and pop creating a unique hybrid that “sounds like something Wu-Tang Clan producer The RZA might conjure up if he got his hands on the Kronos Quartet” (SF Weekly Ensemble Mik Nawooj has the usual Pierrot ensemble instrumentation (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano) with a lyric soprano, deep funk drums, a heavy contrabass and 2 MCs.
As mentioned above, Ensemble Mik Nawooj will premiere theme & variation on 6 classic hip-hop song from 1993. These variation will be similar in execution to their quasi rondo/variation on the classic *Don’t Call Me Nigger, Whitey (*click to listen) by Sly & the Family Stone. Other pieces from their original music will include: We Will Conquer, a hip-hop/baroque style concerto grosso, Stars of Everything, which is infused with dubstep, and more.
